On the Everest Trekking with Legendary Sherpas tour, guests will trek the beautiful Khumbu region of Nepal, meet the Sherpa people and stay in their villages, visit famous monasteries, have time to explore Kathmandu and more. The 15-day tour, one of several new tours in Nepal from Adventure Life, is available starting at $3,967 per person based on double occupancy, with departures on select dates from October through June.

“We love to offer trekking tours, especially when they also have a strong cultural element. This high-altitude adventure has been designed to take you on both the well-known route to Everest Base Camp and less traveled trails – and to introduce you to the people who call the Khumbu region home,” said Monika Sundem, CEO of Adventure Life. “You’ll trek to Sherpa villages, stay in local tea houses, enjoy healthy, nourishing meals and hear stories that will enchant you, all in the shadow of some of the highest mountains in the world.”

The tour begins and ends in Kathmandu, where guests can explore its bustling streets and visit Ason, an old spice market; the Boudhanath stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world; or Pashupatinath, the oldest Hindu temple in the city.

Before and after the trek, guests fly into and out of Lukla, the most renowned mountain airstrip in the world, watching as the foothills give way to the Himalayan snowline and several of the world’s highest peaks. They’ll meet their Sherpa guides here and set out on the trek after a cup of tea.

From Lukla, guests will climb and descend high-altitude trails to Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Thame, Khumjung, Deboche, Pangboche and Kyangjuma, following turbulent rivers, crossing high suspension bridges, passing through rhododendron and pine forests, watching for wildlife like the rare musk deer and colorful Impeyan pheasants, and taking in views of peaks like Mount Everest and Lhotse.

In towns and villages along the way, they’ll stay in local lodges, including one owned by Apa Sherpa, who once held the record for most successful ascents of Everest.

Guests will also have opportunities to visit Namche Bazaar, where Sherpas welcome traders from the foothills and across the border in Tibet and food items, souvenirs, hand-woven aprons and Tibetan boots are available; the Khunde hospital and the Khumjung school, both built by Sir Edmund Hillary; and the monasteries in Tengboche and Pangboche. The tour includes 14 nights of accommodations, 13 breakfasts, 11 lunches, 11 dinners, 10 days of local guide service, porter, hiking permits and more. International and internal flights not included.
